Currently recruiting for an experienced Software Engineer on a permanent staff basis for an Aberdeen based Oil and Gas client.

The Software Engineer will primarily be responsible for the design and implementation of Windows applications. 

The Software Engineer will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Working as part of the Software Development Team.
  • Designing new code for acquiring data, controlling equipment, logging and analysing results.
  • Providing support to users.
  • Capturing and documenting software requirements and procedures.
  • The position will cover the whole software lifecycle, including the capturing of requirements, code development, controlling equipment, results analysis, support for users of the final software and the practical application of results.

Experience / Skills / Qualifications:

  • Windows development experience with Visual Studio .Net (C# and/or VB) and C/C++ programming languages is essential.
  • Experience of developing Windows Forms (Winforms) applications is essential.
  • The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 5 years’ experience within a software development environment within the Oil and Gas Industry.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to effectively estimate development timescales and produce design documentation.
  • Applicants will be expected to be have experience with source control systems, such as subversion.
  • Possessing an understanding of interfacing techniques and communication protocols would be desirable.
  • The role will involve the support of embedded devices so experience of interfacing to hardware or embedded system development would be desirable.
  • A Degree qualification in an Engineering, Physics, Computing Science, Mathematics or similar discipline would be preferred.
