Our client is looking for an Operations Manager to hold the overall responsibility for the effective management and development of service operation, consisting of field service, workshop repair and valve asset management services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring full compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety regulations, Quality accreditations (ISO 9000), operational procedures and Employment Legislation.
  • Managing and leading the successful growth of the service operation with full P&L accountability.
  • Maximising financial results, revenue growth and FCF to meet or exceed financial budget and non-financial KPI targets.
  • Developing the capability of the local organisation within a culture of continuous improvement to satisfy the requirements of the local customer base and efficiently enable business expansion.

  • Setting objectives for the workshop in support of the UK service strategic business plan and leading and managing the local workshop teams and off shore teams in order to achieve them.
  • Supporting the needs of the UK service business as required by the Regional Service Director.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the nature of this position.
Experience / Skills / Qualifications:
  • Experience within the valve or similar industry serving the service market – preferred but not essential.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or HNC / HND supplemented by relevant experience.
  • Experience in SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
  • Record of successful managerial experience within a manufacturing or service environment in the valve industry or a related business.
  • Flexibility – ability to travel between sites and interface with customers across Europe.
  • Leadership – assertive, determined leader who achieves results through teamwork, co-operation and collaboration.
  • People Management – focuses on managing and motivating people and facilitates goal accomplishment.
  • Commercial Awareness – understands what makes a business successful and the factors that influence success.
  • Technical Knowledge – knowledge of control and safety valves, computer literate and the ability to analyse and develop business processes.
  • Customer Service – strong commitment to customer service and continuously strives to improve service delivery.
  • Planning and Organising – ability to analyse goals and schedule tasks accordingly, measures progress and monitors performance and results.
  • Multi-tasking – manages multiple tasks and details by focusing on key priorities.
  • Communication – accomplished communicator (both written and verbal), adjusts to the audience, frames message in line with audience experience, background and expectations.
