Currently recruiting for an experienced office-based Hydraulic Engineer on a permanent staff basis for an Oil and Gas client based in Aberdeen.

Duties / Responsibilities:

Project Estimating:

  • Reviewing customer supplied circuit diagrams, P&ID’s and GA’s to determine proposed scope of work.
  • Defining the scope of work into a method statement and preparing Cost Time Resource Estimates for completing the work.
  • Defining equipment specification requirements to execute the work.
  • Completing product take offs if required and preparing list of consumables.
  • Ensuring written quotations to clients are delivered on time and as per existing company charge out rate structure.

Project Engineering:

  • Liaising with Customer Focal points to ensure the pro-active management and delivery of the Services, in line with client contracts and individual project / work scopes.
  • Preparing work packs for execution of Services in accordance with customer requirements and Company procedures.
  • Developing and maintaining project schedule and evaluating, organising and prioritising workload within a schedule.
  • Ensuring client project / work scopes are completed in line with Company / Client Agreed procedures.
  • Ensuring all purchase orders received from customers are expedited.
  • Responsible for assembly and managing of project close out documents and procedures.

Hydraulic Design, Application and Services:

  • Providing technical system and application support to customers and regional sales personnel.
  • Providing concept level proposals and alternate solutions for customer applications and enquiries.
  • Producing method statements and risk assessments.
  • Leading the troubleshooting and maintenance of marine, industrial, offshore and subsea equipment.
  • Providing technical support to the Design Team for the design and manufacturing of hydraulic and instrument equipment.
  • Managing and leading the installation and commissioning of Hydraulic equipment both onshore and offshore.
  • Liaising with FPPC Engineers to ensure that in-house manufacturing of hydraulic equipment are completed as per customer specifications.
  • Managing and leading piping, hot oil flushing, torqueing and hydrotesting projects both onshore and offshore.
  • Ensuring that in house overhauling and testing of hydraulic equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, PSV’s and accumulators are completed as per company procedures and necessary reports and engineering data are generated.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to Hydraulic Technicians and Fitters on day to day jobs.

Experience / Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Previous experience in an office-based Mechanical / Hydraulic Engineer type role.
  • Previous hands-on experience in the hydraulics service industry.
  • Experience in hydro-testing, hot oil flushing, contamination monitoring and filtration services.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic piping, bolt torqueing and flange management.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic hoses and fittings.
  • Knowledge of instrument tubing and fittings.
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic circuit diagrams, P&ID’s and GA’s.
  • Hands-on experience in the trouble shooting and maintenance hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic pumps, motors, valves and cylinders.
  • Previous experience in hydraulic cylinder overhauling, maintenance and testing.
  • Previous experience in the design and manufacturing of Hydraulic Power Units (HPU’s).
  • Knowledge of drilling and subsea equipment.
  • Marine experience.

Desirable / Preferred:

  • A Degree qualification in Mechanical / Hydraulic Engineering.
  • Offshore experience.
  • Experience with subsea systems.
  • Project Engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of ship board systems.
  • Knowledge with Parker or Eaton Hydraulic products.
  • Knowledge with the electro hydraulic control of pumps.
  • PSV calibration and certification.
  • Experience with chemical flushing.
  • Experience with PLC’s.
