Business Feature: Profile Thorpe Molloy Recruitment Ltd
It was just seven years ago that Judith Thorpe and Karen Molloy struck on the idea of setting up their business. They had met while working for a large recruitment firm in Aberdeen, but reckoned they could do it better.
Now with a turnover of more than three and a half million pounds, and a staff of twenty in Aberdeen and Edinburgh, it seems they can. So now firmly established in accountancy recruitment, and both just in their thirties, what`s been the secret of their success?
Well, its not all been plain sailing. For Judith it was difficult at first to convince the powers that be that they should lend hard cash to the twenty-four year old. But experience selling kindling while still at University stood her in good stead.
For Karen it`s a hectic life, she is a mother of three and married to a pilot. Her average day starts at six am to get the children up and ready for school. She`s at her desk by eight fifteen and often takes home work in the evenings. So is there any time at all for herself?
Judith is busy navigating the slippery path of diversification. She`s pushing forward a new business venture which she hopes will be bang on target. A corporate decathlon. Thorpe Molloy have been tasked with attracting new teams for local firm Activity mix.
Their success so far has seen Thorpe and Molloy sweep the board when it comes to business awards and it looks like they`re on sure footing to continue as a winning team.
