Molloy plugs skills gap in legal sector

Clark heads banking and law division

Aberdeen-based Thorpe Molloy Recruitment hopes to ease a regional skills shortage by creating a new legal and banking division. Solicitor Alan Clark has been appointed to lead the team. The recruiter believes the appointment will address the declining number of qualified and experienced legal and financial staff in the north east.

Clark, who qualified as a solicitor in 2006, is looking forward to the challenge.
He said: “My background in the legal profession has given me great grounding for a career in legal and banking recruitment as I know exactly what skills to look for when recruiting candidates for clients. “Not only will I be recruiting, but I will also be helping to develop the skills of legal and banking professionals through development events Thorpe Molloy will be organising during the course of the year. “I feel recruitment is much more than filling a position, it’s about finding and developing the right people throughout their careers.”

Recent labour market reports indicate demand for professionals is on the increase. Karen Molloy, director of the company, said “2008 brings with it an exciting time of growth for Thorpe Molloy with the development of our new legal and banking division and expansion of our services in executive-level recruitment too. “We recognise the need to meet the demands of our clients and to help them overcome the issues they face due to skill shortages in the legal and financial sectors. “The newly-established specialist team with experience in these professions will aid us in placing candidates and addressing these pressing skills shortage issues.” With turnover reaching £6.4million at year end, Molloy is confident the new division will help business growth. She added: “The development of the new division is a strategic move in our long-term plans for company expansion.”
