Currently recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer on a permanent staff basis for an Oil & Gas company based in Aberdeen.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Acting as project focal point to all external and internal stakeholders, as well as project representative in meetings.
  • Developing and preparing project management plans and project workpacks in conjunction with client requirements.
  • Acting as the Client or Engineering Representative on / offshore when deployed with Company equipment / Installation Procedures.
  • Attending client meetings as required by the Project Manager, client and project requirements.
  • Project planning and delivery scheduling, including allocation of suitable resources.
  • Managing procurement and conducting purchase of materials and services from third parties, and ensuring purchase orders for materials and services for projects are produced in a timely manner.
  • Managing and coordinating subcontractors and third-party suppliers to maximise safety and cost effectiveness for every project / operation.
  • Coordinating with clients / stakeholders on change requests, or variation orders, in projects and its approval.
  • Managing project close-out and preparation of lessons learned after every project completion.
  • Managing project objectives and strategies, work scope, risk and opportunities, overall work plan and schedule, financial plan and budgets, quality, health and safety requirements etc., consistent with the terms of the respective contract.
  • Managing and administering the client contract – ensuring that the content is fully understood and controlled by both parties.
  • Placing, managing and administering contract agreements between the Company and its subcontractors, protecting Company and Client interests, through cost, quality and delivery control.
  • Managing client representatives throughout the project delivery to ensure satisfactory reaction to client's needs or criticisms.
  • Monitoring, controlling and reporting project performance against budget, schedule, and quality requirements, using appropriate tools, in a timely manner.
  • Preparing regular project progress reports for clients.
  • Identifying changes, and likely changes, in the scope of work and ensuring that variations to the contract are agreed and implemented.
  • Issuing directions for job close-out and the securing of the final project acceptance and contract release from the client.
  • Complying with contractual terms.

Engineering:

  • Developing risk assessments, engineering requests, reports and sub-contractor work scopes.
  • Developing detailed procedures for inspection and repair and maintenance. Supervising and supporting offshore operations, as necessary.
  • Maintenance of engineering procedures, processes, data and records in accordance with the Integrated Management System.
  • Management of pre-operational activities (fabrication, procedures, risk assessments, engineering and sub-contracts).
  • Performing miscellaneous engineering studies, as required by clients, or internally.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A Degree qualification in an Engineering (Mechanical / Structural) or Scientific discipline is essential.
  • Chartered Engineer status, or working towards, would be preferred.
  • Previous experience in a Project Engineer type role, within a workshop / Service Company type environment within the Oil & Gas Industry, is essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, relating to marine engineering and construction – including flex lay solutions for SURF products – would be preferred.
  • Experience in engineering design is essential.
  • Experience in using 2D and 3D drawing software is essential (AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred).
  • Experience with using calculation packages is essential (Mathcad preferred).
  • Applicants will be expected to possess a sound understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems employed within a marine engineering context.
  • Applicants will be expected to possess both strong technical engineering and project management skills.
