Currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer (Piping and Structure) for a 3 month contract for an Oil and Gas client based in Angus.

The client is ideally looking to take on someone who is available at short notice.

The Mechanical Engineer (Piping and Structure) will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Producing and checking Mechanical engineering documentation and deliverables for packaged modules and standalone structures and pipework.
  • Ensuring all deliverables are technically in accordance with client requirements.
  • Ensuring timely and thorough review of client specifications, identify missing information and communicate findings.
  • Participating in internal design review meetings and being aware of commercial implications.
  • Ensuring that document numbering and the revision control procedure is adhered to.
  • Preparing and checking of Technical Requisition documents for sub-vended engineering scope.
  • Assisting the preparation of Technical Requisitions for any 3rd party design review or verification.
  • Reviewing and recommending Subcontract / Sub-vendor quotes.
  • Reporting any design changes which may have a cost or schedule impact to the relevant project personnel.
  • Attending and participating in client meetings.
  • Contributing to the investigation, resolution and documentation of Engineering Queries in a timely and technically acceptable fashion.

 Experience / Qualifications:

  • An HNC / HND qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant discipline, is essential.
  • Experience in Mechanical Engineering within the stress analysis field is required.
  • Previous and recent experience within a similar Mechanical Engineer type position within the Oil and Gas Industry is essential.
  • Experience with pipework and structural analysis calculation software (Caesar II and SAFI preferably) is essential.
  • Experience of working with pressure containment codes (ASTM, PED, PD5500, ASME and EN) and their applications is essential.
  • Previous engineering experience with offshore structures, pipework, fluid systems (Process) - such as separation and mixing processes - water treatment and sand handling packages would be desirable.
  • Knowledge of NACE and NORSOK standards would be preferred.
  • Experience with Finglow software would be preferred.
  • Experience of pressure vessels design would be preferred.
