The Lead Design Draughtsperson will be responsible for producing detailed 3D models and completing 2D drawing packages for manufacturing and assembly, along with training and guiding Draughtspersons and Graduate Engineers.   The Lead Design Draughtsperson will provide technical leadership on drafting standards for commercial and development projects by taking technical responsibility and accountability.  The Lead Design Draughtsperson will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

• Assuming technical disciplinary responsibility for drafting related tasks and activities.
• Providing drafting support and coaching for Draughtspersons, Trainee Draughtsperson and Graduate Engineers.
• Ownership and responsibility for drawing completeness and demonstration of fitness for purpose of all drafting tasks undertaken.
• Checking of drawings produced within the department and making sure drafting and company standards are met.
• Presenting technical proposals and designs at concept and detailed design reviews relating to but not limited to drafting.
• Efficiently use various design tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.).
• Providing technical input and develop Design Practices, Guidelines and Standards relating to drafting.
• Developing Drawing Templates to capture the methodology and structure for subsequent use by other Draughtspersons.
• Providing drawing support and guidance for manufacturing, assembly and test.

Education / Experience:

• A Degree qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline would be preferred.
• Current membership of a recognised engineering body (e.g. IMechE) would be preferred.
• Previous experience in a Lead / Senior Design Draughtsperson type role within the Oil and Gas Industry is essential.
• The client is ideally looking to take on someone who possesses around 5-8 years’ engineering drafting experience in equipment design and operation in Isolation, Intervention or Pigging environments.
• Previous experience in Pipeline Isolation, Intervention and Pigging equipment design would be preferred.
• Previous experience with the utilisation and operation of Pipeline Isolation, Intervention and Pigging equipment would be preferred.
• Previous experience of Oil and Gas pipework design, installation and operation would be preferred.
• Previous design / drafting experience with Inventor and AutoCAD is essential.
• Previous experience with Vault would be preferred.
• This role would suit an experienced Lead / Senior Design Draughtsperson who has experience of managing a small design team within a manufacturing / service environment within the Oil and Gas Industry.
• This role would suit a candidate who is accustomed to working on multiple projects at 1 time within a fast-paced manufacturing / service focused environment.
