Currently recruiting for an experienced Chemical Plant Engineer on a permanent staff basis for an Oil and Gas client based in Aberdeen.

The Chemical Plant Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

Operations:

  • Creating, implementing and reviewing of procedures and risk assessments.
  • Coordinating planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Coordinating key contractors (including software, piping and maintenance contractors).
  • Facilitating the site’s Weekly Operations Meeting and issuing minutes to all attendees.
  • Leading or coordinating monthly operational audits.
  • Ensuring the continued safe and efficient operation of the QC laboratory to meet QC testing requirements.
  • Providing operational support to all services on site (i.e. Tank Farm, Tank Wash, Rentals, CCUs, Inspection, Admin).

Engineering:

  • Controlling all technical drawings for the Facility (i.e. P&IDs, construction, drainage).
  • Carrying out technical and financial reviews of expenditure on new / spare equipment on site.
  • Acting as technical focal point for all technical queries (internal and external).
  • Providing technical input to HSEQ projects, investigations and audits.
  • Providing technical input to new business opportunities.

COMAH:

  • Monitoring and assessing the inventory of hazardous chemicals on site to ensure adherence with Lower Tier COMAH regulations.
  • Ensuring COMAH notifications and public notifications are up to date and reflective of the site’s current operations.
  • Controlling and reviewing major accident hazards that could occur on site.

Management of Change:

  • Reviewing new chemicals received on site to assess their hazards and the sites’ capabilities to handle them.
  • Managing and coordinating procedural, engineering or operational changes onsite to ensure they are assessed and documented as per the company’s local procedure.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A Degree qualification in Chemical Engineering, or similar, is essential.
  • Previous chemical plant engineering experience within an operational or project environment is essential.
  • Previous experience of working in a laboratory environment would be desirable.
  • Familiarity with regulatory obligations (COMAH, HSE, SEPA) would be desirable.
