Currently recruiting for an experienced Marine Systems Engineer on an onshore basis for a 12-month contract with an Oil and Gas Operator based in Aberdeen. The company is ideally looking to take on a candidate who is available at short notice.

Reporting to the Maintenance Delivery Lead, the Marine Systems Engineer will act as the Focal Point for all marine issues and technical support to the onshore and offshore Operated Assets Team.  The Marine Systems Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • First point of contact for all marine issues and technical support to the onshore and offshore team. Taking ownership of issues / problems and ensuring timely and effective solutions are achieved.
  • Accountable for managing a range of support service contracts pertaining to marine systems and ensuring that effective support is provided.
  • Ensuring compliance with current regulations, codes and standards is established and maintained within the Marine discipline.
  • Responsible for ensuring that an effective condition and performance monitoring programme is in place, is being monitored, trended and that appropriate on-condition remedial or improvement action is taken.
  • Responsible for co-ordinating all planned and corrective inspection, maintenance and repair programmes for any marine systems.
  • Ensuring equipment reliability and availability and performance / compliance targets are achieved and that all losses associated with marine systems are investigated.
  • Monitoring the maintenance and achievement of performance standards within the Marine area. Taking appropriate action if standard is not achieved.
  • Following marine projects throughout their lifecycle and be the company’s Marine representative during each project phase from identifying through to commissioning and review. Providing assurance that the project delivers on its objectives in operation.
  • Ensuring correct competency of offshore marine personnel is constantly maintained – Company standard and Class / Flag compliant.

Key Deliverables / Activities:

  • Understanding and prioritising marine issues and working with the team to provide solutions.
  • Developing and planning campaigns for marine equipment maintenance and overhaul.
  • Maintaining equipment reliability, availability and performance data and providing input to the asset monthly report.
  • Reviewing and ensuring continuous improvement of maintenance strategies and routines. Providing input / advice on materials control and routine spares holdings.
  • Active involvement in the implementation and continual improvement of the companies Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures. Following up on Incident Investigations and sharing of incident lessons learned from a marine perspective.
  • Conducting periodic offshore visits and audit processes and procedures within the Marine area.
  • Liaising with Planning to ensure any offshore visits are suitably planned and adhere to the required plan entry criteria.
  • Monitoring status and providing onshore support for marine systems including Mooring, Hull Integrity, Stability, Marine Utilities, Lifeboats, Helideck, Navigational Aids and Cranes, including LOLER.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Previous and specific marine systems engineering experience within the Oil and Gas Industry is essential.
  • Previous and specific experience in a similar Marine Systems Engineer type role, directly with an Oil and Gas Operator, would be highly desirable.
  • Marine operational experience is essential.
  • Relevant operational and maintenance management / delivery experience is essential.
  • Experience with Class and UK HSEx Verification schemes is essential.
  • Current / valid offshore certification would be preferred.
