Currently recruiting for a Project Engineer, who has experience with Digital Applications / Digital Transformation within the Oil and Gas Industry, on a permanent staff basis for an Oil and Gas company based in Aberdeen.

Working across all solution centres, the Project Engineer will facilitate the identification, development and deployment of appropriate technologies, which contribute to the successful delivery of the solution centre objectives.

The Project Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Assisting to identify then appraise the relevance, readiness and accessibility of existing technology in the market place (e.g. Universities, service and supply network, Oil and Gas Operators, independent institutions etc). Once selected, helping engage and adapt the technology to deliver solutions that work towards the company’s objectives.
  • Assisting to identify and appraise the applicability of technologies being deployed in other industrial sectors (Aerospace, Nuclear, Automotive etc) that could be capable of technology transfer into the upstream Oil and Gas Industry.
  • Identifying specific technology gaps that remain and design and deliver programmes to resolve these gaps.
  • Managing a portfolio of technology ideas, opportunities and projects across the solution centre.
  • Tracking and reporting on actual versus planned project progress and delivery.
  • Collaborating and partnering effectively with a variety of stakeholders and organisations to establish key industry technology needs.
  • Supporting all project management processes across the company.
  • Planning, facilitating / running and contribute to events and workshops.
  • Presenting findings to groups at events and conferences.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • A Degree qualification in a relevant Technical or Business discipline, or relevant experience in a similar role, is essential.
  • The successful candidate must have previous experience in a similar role, as well as a clear understanding of how Oil and Gas projects are developed and delivered.
  • Applicants will ideally possess circa 3-5 years’ overall experience in a similar Project Engineer type role relating to digital transformation / technology development.
  • Previous experience of managing multiple small projects is essential.
  • Experience in technology development, or experience with the application of new technology in the Oil and Gas Industry, would be preferred.
  • Experience of leading a technology change project would be preferred.
  • Applicants will be expected to possess a demonstrable knowledge of Oil and Gas technology development and delivery.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to possess a technical background as he / she will be required to support events and workshops.
