Exciting opportunity to work for a leading international organisation to take ownership of and develop the role further.

Working in group finance reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be supporting the production of the company’s financial results and management information, with responsibility for control and compliance.

  • Ownership of Group Overheads:
    • Managing the accurate and robust monthly accounting, quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting for the group overheads.
    • Supervising Group Overhead Accounting Team of 2.
    • Dealing with Group Overhead Budget Holders on progress against target and agreeing corrective action as necessary.
    • Reviewing Group Entity’s Balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Ensuring robust and efficient processes and procedures.
    • Overseeing preparation, signing and submission of central legal entity statutory accounts.
  • Internal Group Reporting:
    • Assisting with preparation of the Monthly Finance Report, Board Report and Executive Pack.
    • Assisting with preparation of quarterly Audit Committee Key Judgement papers.
    • Ad hoc request for Senior Management and Board as required.
  • External Group Reporting:
    • Assisting in the preparation of the Interim and Full year financial statements.
    • Assisting with preparation of financial slides for analyst presentations.
    • Preparing supplementary disclosures for notes to the financial statements.
    • Conducting impairment testing of investments and goodwill as required.
    • Liaising with external auditors on the above.
    • Preparing quarterly trading update packs.
  • Control and Compliance:
    • Monitoring and influencing continued compliance with the key period end control file policy, drive ongoing improvement in the quality of balance sheet reconciliations and improve the process of review.
    • Assisting with ongoing maintenance and update of the Group Finance Manual and Group Delegated Authorities.
  • Technical accounting projects:
    • Researching technical accounting issues as required.
    • Assisting with the implementation of major new accounting standards.
  • Finance Graduates:
    • Line managing the new intake of Finance Graduates and continued enhancement of the Finance Graduate Programme.
  • Supporting and managing the performance of the Group Finance Accounting Team.
  • Ensuring the induction, management, performance appraisal and continued development of all direct reports.
  • Travelling throughout the UK and working away from home as required.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Qualified Accountant.
  • Good prioritisation and time-management skills.
  • A pro-active, can-do approach to delivering robust information.
  • Good written and presentation skills.
  • Good business acumen with the ability to work within a complex and multi-disciplined environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Good MS office skills with a working knowledge of accounting systems in a large organisation.
  • Hyperion knowledge is desirable.
