IS Analyst / Technician - VR/18190
Currently recruiting for an experienced IS Analyst / Technician on a permanent staff basis for an Oil and Gas company based in Aberdeen.
Reporting to the Area IS Manager, the IS Analyst / Technician will work with the Area IS Manager to provide support to both onshore and offshore company management information systems. The IS Analyst / Technician will ensure the company’s Corporate Policy is adhered to regarding computer hardware and software.
The IS Analyst / Technician will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Area IS Manager any problem areas or where systems are not being fully complied with.
- Assisting the Area IS Manger in providing support and maintenance to onshore and offshore LANs.
- Providing PC support to all users.
- Implementing MIS policies and procedures set by corporate office.
- Training and developing all users to ensure maximum efficiency from all systems.
- Assisting in the management of all information technology systems, including PCs and communication systems.
- Traveling offshore and to international locations as required.
- Assisting the Area IS Manager in supporting all onshore and offshore communication systems, including phone networks and mobile phones.
- Ensuring security of hardware and software and maintaining inventory of all IT assets.
- Assisting in the development of new software systems as and when required.
Qualifications / Experience:
- An HNC qualification, as a minimum, in a relevant Computing / IT discipline is essential.
- General PC / desktop, helpdesk support and hardware experience are essential.
- Experience with MS Windows XP Pro 7, MS Windows Server 2003 and 2008 and MS Office Suite 2003 / 2007 is essential.
- MS Active Directory 2003 / 2008 experience is essential.
- Data backup hardware and software systems experience is essential.
- Experience in MS Exchange 2003 / 2007 is essential.
- Experience with VMware & vSphere 4 and SAN based storage would be advantageous.
- Exposure to WAN, Firewall and Cisco technologies would be advantageous.
- There will be an occasional requirement to work offshore / abroad, therefore applicants must be prepared to do this.
