Currently recruiting for an experienced Business Intelligence Analyst on a fixed-term contract basis for a client based in Aberdeen. The contract will initially last until the end of July 2019 and the client is ideally looking to get someone started in early January 2019.

Working within the Business Intelligence Team and reporting to the Business Intelligence Implementation Manager, the Business Intelligence Analyst will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Business Intelligence Implementation Manager in securing the change in the institution’s approach to, and use of, data analysis.
  • Linking a range of internal and external data sources to Tableau and creating, where relevant, meaningful joins between different data sources.
  • Creating specific reports and dashboards using multiple data sources (internal and / or external) and presenting this to consumers to support informed decision making.
  • Utilising Alteryx to undertake complex data transformations and predicative analysis on data sources.
  • Developing reports and presentations to the BI Project Board as directed by the Manager.
  • Keeping up to date with developments in data utilisation and data visualisation so that good practice can be incorporated into the roll out of Tableau.
  • Conducting a range of Tableau training for authors and consumers.
  • Acting as a reference source for queries and troubleshooting with regard to the use of the Tableau and Alteryx tools.
  • Working with ITS staff to ensure integrated operational planning and delivery across the whole project.

Experience / Qualifications:

Essential:

  • An Undergraduate Degree qualification in a relevant subject area, or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in a similar Business Intelligence Analyst type role.
  • Good working knowledge of an existing business intelligence system.
  • Good working knowledge of ETL processes.
  • An understanding of data protection and its application to statistical reporting.
  • A track record of being involved in projects which provide enhanced services to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, particularly in the use of statistical data.
  • Ability to develop and undertake training for a range of users.

Desirable:

  • A further qualification in a relevant subject area.
  • Good working knowledge of relational databases, SQL and dimensional modelling.
  • Knowledge of Tableau and / or Alteryx.
  • Significant experience of authoring reports in Tableau and / or using Alteryx for data analytics.
  • Experience in developing effective data visualisations.
  • Experience of managing a significant institutional or organisational database.
