Currently recruiting for an experienced Engineering Technical Authority (Piping) on a permanent staff basis for an Oil and Gas client based in Aberdeen.

Reporting to the Operations Director, the Engineering Technical Authority will have the following main duties / responsibilities:

  • Identifying appropriate technical resources to undertake and support operational and project activities, including specialist R&D programmes, design activities and installation improvement initiatives.
  • Providing technical supervision, management and support for all technical / engineering personnel.
  • Developing and approving technical engineering project / operational deliverables.
  • Approving and closing out of engineering technical queries and MOC’s.
  • Working as a Lead Engineer on specific project(s) as required.
  • Providing technical approval for all technical or engineering documents.
  • Developing and approving technical / engineering BMS documents with the Technical Director.
  • Maintaining the Company’s engineering software.
  • Ensuring the successful delivery of all technical projects as per design specifications and relevant standards within an agreed timeframe and budget.

Education / Experience

  • A Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant discipline, is essential.
  • Chartered Engineering status would be preferred.
  • Previous technical engineering management experience within the Oil and Gas Industry is essential.
  • Previous experience within a similar Piping Technical Authority / Lead Piping Engineer type role within the operations support / modifications field is essential.
  • Previous Topsides piping operational and non-metallic / composite engineering experience is essential.
  • Previous operations piping design and management experience is essential.
  • Previous experience of developing and approving maintenance and integrity strategies is essential.
  • This role would suit someone who has been in a previous Engineering Technical Authority / Lead Piping Engineer type role within the Oil and Gas Industry who is accustomed to liaising with Client TAs in regards to discussing the benefits of using composite rather than repair options.
