Category Management & Strategic Sourcing Advisor - VR/30895
An experienced contracts and procurement professional is required to support the supply chain function of a North Sea oil and gas operator. Offered on a 3-6 month contract basis, the role focuses on category strategy development, tendering, and supplier performance management across key Exploration and Offshore service lines. This is a hands-on position with scope to shape commercial outcomes and deliver real value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shaping and delivering category strategies for Exploration and Offshore Services, using market insight and cost modelling to drive long-term value.
- Leading high-value tendering and negotiation processes, ensuring commercial outcomes align with business objectives.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to secure buy-in for sourcing decisions and ensure alignment across functions.
- Driving TCO reduction through supplier consolidation, strategic partnerships, and streamlined supply chain practices.
- Overseeing competitive sourcing events, from supplier engagement to contract award and handover.
- Building robust bid evaluation models that combine financial analysis, stakeholder input, and clear scoring criteria.
- Negotiating and finalising commercial agreements that meet internal policy requirements and manage risk effectively.
- Tracking supply market trends to keep category strategies responsive and forward-looking.
- Partnering with stakeholders and suppliers to maintain accurate forecasts and avoid supply disruptions.
- Identifying and implementing category levers such as pooled demand, standardisation, and performance-based incentives.
- Encouraging adoption of Purchase-to-Pay systems and ensure processes are followed across the business.
- Monitoring supplier performance through defined KPIs and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
About You:
- Experience in strategic sourcing or category management, ideally within oil and gas, with exposure to subsea, projects, engineering, or logistics.
- Proven ability to lead complex negotiations and deliver measurable commercial outcomes.
- Strong understanding of category management and sourcing methodologies, including cost/benefit and financial evaluation models.
- Skilled in engaging and influencing stakeholders, with excellent communication and analytical capabilities.
- Proficient in Excel; experience with SAP Ariba (sourcing/contracts) is advantageous.
- Adaptable, self-motivated, and results-focused, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Degree-qualified in Supply Chain, Business, Law, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
