Dimensional Control Engineer - VR/31041
Currently recruiting for an experienced Dimensional Control Engineer on a permanent staff basis for an engineering company based in central Aberdeen. In addition to work out of the Aberdeen office, this role will involve significant global offshore travel - therefore applicants must be prepared to work offshore.
This role will play a pivotal part in the success and growth of scaling their digital twin software platform across international onshore and offshore industrial process plants in the Oil and Gas, Nuclear, Thermal, Petrochemical and Renewables sectors.
Working within the Digital Assets Team and reporting directly to the Digital Assets Manager, the Dimensional Control Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Assisting in preparing survey and scanning equipment for shipping including pre-survey checks. Reporting issues by exception to Digital Assets Manager/Office Manager.
- Attending presurvey meetings to discuss scope of work and outline of expectations.
- Completing client required training for site specific requirements.
- Assisting in reviewing risk assessments and method statements to ensure compliance with company and ISO9001 and ISO45001 standards.
- Completing dimensional control surveys as directed by Digital Assets Manager. Producing daily reports and resolving technical issues with onsite teams during survey.
- Ensuring that all survey work carried out is completed within estimated budget and timescales.
- Supervising and mentoring junior team members as highlighted by the Digital Assets Manager.
- Resolving survey queries.
- Assisting in preparing survey scope of works and man hour reviews.
- Processing survey data in line with company procedures.
- Completing QA/QC of survey calculations, processing and deliverables following procedures.
- Issuing deliverables and ensuring data is backed up as per company processes.
- Efficiently delivering the captured data back to the office for data processing.
Experience/Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar Dimensional Control Engineer/Surveyor type role is essential.
- Experience in laser scanning and data processing (using Leica Register 360 and Autodesk ReCap) is essential.
- Experience with processing survey calculations, using Geonet, is essential.
- Experience in completing piping surveys for spool replacements is essential.
- Experience of setting out control networks on FPSO’s and similar assets would be preferred.
