Senior Technical Safety Engineer - VR/31376
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Technical Safety Engineer to join a leading international energy operator known for its diverse offshore portfolio and commitment to safety excellence. This is an initial 12-month PAYE contract role to provide additional support to the central Technical Safety Team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering the Technical Safety workplan, managing assurance programmes, and providing day-to-day support to operations across three offshore assets. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert in areas such as Process Safety, Major Accident Hazard studies, Functional Safety, and Safety Case management.
Due to the nature of the role, regular cover for the Manager / Technical Authority will be required. Therefore, the client is ideally looking for a candidate with Senior/Manager/Technical Authority-level experience gained within an operator environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering the Technical Safety workplan in support of operations and business objectives.
- Providing expert advice and technical input across areas such as MAH studies, QRA models, ORAs, COMOPS notifications, and SECE performance standards.
- Acting as delegate for the Manager – Technical Safety / Technical Authority when required.
- Maintaining and managing safety cases in compliance with UK regulations.
- Interfacing with a wide range of internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Supporting projects, modifications, TARs and ensure engineering compliance.
- Attending offshore site visits and participate in regulator inspections.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven background in Technical Safety/Process Safety within the oil and gas industry.
- Strong working knowledge of UK safety legislation, ALARP principles, and industry best practice.
- Experience managing major hazard safety studies, audits, and assurance programmes.
- Skilled in using engineering and safety tools such as HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, and reliability studies.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams both onshore and offshore.
- Previous experience working for an operator is essential.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering or Science discipline (essential).
- Chartered Engineer status (desirable).
